The Professional Sports Club ‘Ice Angels’ is established 2001 in the city of Samokov, aiming to generally present snowboarding and other winter sports to children and adults as a way of self and body development.
The main goal of the club is to train not only amateurs but also professional sportsmen for national and foreign competitions. Club managing team consists of seven professional sportsmen graduated at the National Sport Academy, Sofia. All of them are snowboard and alpine skiing winners not only in Bulgaria, as well as on international competitions. Among snowboard riders of the Professional Sports Club “Ice Angels” leading are: MARIA DIMOVA – 10 times Bulgarian cup winner in the period of 1995 – 2004 (including all sports events in the country), 3 European cups, bronze medal at the World Students Competition, 20th place at Winter Olympic games, Nagano, Japan in 1998.
That outstanding result makes Maria Dimova the first Bulgarian snowboarder with best results at Winter Olympic games. Her many victories and sports experience are set in the idea of developing the National Snowboard Center at “Ice Angels” hotel in 2005. Atanas Petrov – 5 times Bulgarian cup winner, many victories in European competitions. Ilian Karadzov – 4 times Bulgarian cup winner, 1st places in Greece and Macedonia. Alexander Geogov – 3 times Bulgarian cup winner, 1st places in Greece and Macedonia. Most recognizable in Alpine skiing is Nikola Chongarov, who is wins children competitions and has successful results in adult category.
